Observations - Water Rat

Carol Hall has captured a snap shot into the life of a native Water Rat Hydromys chrysogaster, also referred to as a Rakali on 13-14 September 2014 at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.  This is a native species and should not be confused with introduced rodents.  The Water Rat is mostly nocturnal but can be sometimes seen at dawn or dusk so to see these images is unusual. The Water Rat has partially webbed hind feet and a distinctive furred tail with a white tip.
