The Threatened Species Conservancy is an independent not-for-profit organisation helping Australia’s threatened plants and animals to thrive.

The Threatened Species Conservancy undertakes planning and the implementation of recovery programs for the nation’s threatened plants and animals.

The Conservancy fosters connections between people and the natural world through targeted on-ground actions, citizen science and community engagement.

 

On-ground actions

Some of the projects and species being protected in Victoria include the following:

Saving the Pink-tailed Worm-lizard

Pink-tailed Worm-lizard Aprasia parapulchella  - Endangered.

 

Rainforest Germplasm Conservation Program

Tall Astelia Astelia australiana  - Critically endangered, Slender Tree Fern Cyathea cunninghamii  - Critically endangered.

 

Monitoring threatened butterflies and moths

Large Ant-blue Acrodipsas brisbanensis cyrilus - Endangered,  Small Ant-blue Acrodipsas myrmecophilia - Endangered and Golden Sun Moth Synemon plana - Vulnerable.

 

Black Gum waterway program

Black Gum Eucalyptus aggregata - Vulnerable.

 

Langi Ghiran Grevillea Recovery Program

Grevillea montis-cole subspecies brevistyla  - Critically endangered.

 

Safeguarding the future of the Southern Shepherd’s Purse

Southern Shepherd’s Purse Ballantinia antipoda  - Critically Endangered.

 

Saving Ant-blue butterflies across Victoria

Small Ant-blue Acrodipsa myrmecophila - Endangered and the Large Ant- blue Butterfly Acrodipsas brisbanensis -  Endangered

 

Multi-species threatened butterflies in fire affected areas of East Gippsland

Southern Sedge-darter Telicota eurychlora - Endangered, Large Ant-blue Acrodipsas brisbanensis - Endangered, Orange-ringlet Hypocysta adiante – Extinct in Victoria, Silky Hairstreak Pseudalmenus chlorinda fisheri , Chequered Sedge-skipper Hesperilla mastersi mastersi, Two-spotted Grass-skipper Pasma tasmanica -  Endangered and the Common Pencilled-blue Eirmocides absimilis

 

Protecting our forgotten flora – Grampians threatened flora recovery program

Grampians Bertya Bertya grampiana - Critically endangered and the Grampians globe-pea Sphaerolobium acanthos -  Critically endangered.

 

The great Otway’s snail blazer

Otway Black Snail Victaphanta compacta - Endangered and Erskine River Land Snail Allocharopa erskinensis  - Vulnerable.
