Bio-calendar September

True Spring

(September to October)

The start of True Spring corresponds with the European Calendar Spring; however it does not include November which is considered Early Summer in the Bio-calendar.

True Spring is characterised by increasingly longer days and a marked rise in temperatures. Many species of birds are well into their nesting cycle, some with chicks in the nest, insects are becoming more active and there is prolific flowering of plants.

The following list provides an insight to various life stages for some of the native plants and animals in Victoria during September, bearing in mind there will be some variation across different bioregions.  Please contact SWIFFT so we can add to the list.
